Double the Cheer: Rollins Foundation Boosts Year-End Giving Challenge

The Maurice and Marilyn Rollins Foundation has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to local healthcare with an additional $25,000 matching gift donation to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. This latest contribution follows their generous $100,000 gift two weeks ago and aims to inspire the Quinte community to rally together during a critical time for our hospital.

The recent Canada Post mail strike has left the foundation with a significant shortfall, jeopardizing its ability to meet Quinte Health’s equipment needs for the year. Traditionally, the Christmas Angel Campaign generates approximately $400,000 in gifts, but this year’s strike has put that crucial fundraising goal at risk.

“The Maurice and Marilyn Rollins Foundation believes in strong local healthcare and wanted to do everything we could to ensure this community’s needs are met,” said Christine Mills, a trustee of the foundation. “We are so inspired by how our community has rallied so far, and we hope this additional matching gift will encourage others to step up as well.”

This additional gift is designed to create a stretch goal and motivate donors to make their tax-deductible end-of-year contributions. The Rollins Foundation’s matching gift will double the impact of every dollar donated, providing an extraordinary opportunity to bridge the funding gap.

Steven Cook, Executive Director of BGHF, emphasized the importance of year-end giving:
“Your gift today not only helps us meet the immediate needs of our hospital but also provides you with a taxdeductible benefit in the form of a gift receipt. With the Canada Post disruption, it is more important than ever to make your gift online, by phone, or in person to ensure it reaches us in time. The Rollins Foundation’s generosity has set the stage for a community-wide response, and we need your help to reach our goals.”

The Belleville General Hospital Foundation has been a cornerstone of healthcare support in the Quinte region, ensuring that vital equipment and resources are available for patients and families at BGH. The ongoing mail strike poses an unprecedented challenge, but the community’s response has already shown the power of collective action.

“We are calling on everyone who values local healthcare to give generously during this time,” added Cook. “Together, we can make up for lost ground and ensure our hospital remains equipped to provide exceptional care.”
