Chris Jeffrey’s enjoyment of cycling (only eclipsed by his love of Camaros) continues to motivate him to donate to Cancer Care at Belleville General Hospital. Thanks to Chris and his supporters, each ride he takes has added up to massive contributions — a total of $18,225 in 5 years! Chris rides in memory of his loving wife, Pam who passed away from lung cancer in 2015. Dr Janarthanan Kankesan, from Oncology says he is “inspired” by Chris’ generosity and remembers Pamela Smith Jeffrey well, as do many other long-term Oncology staff.
Over the past 5 years, Chris has challenged himself to raise and donate one dollar for every kilometre he cycles, to the Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic at BGH. His latest fundraising efforts, for the end of the 2022 cycling season, have totaled $2800.
As the regional Cancer Care centre, Belleville General Hospital/Quinte Health has a catchment area of more than 7000 kilometres and provides more than 15,800 appointments every year for area Cancer patients. Thanks to loyal donors like Chris, BGH is able to offer the same level of care that is found in larger centers — right here, close to home.
