We would like to extend a BIG thank you on behalf of our LITTLEST patients to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation for their generous donation to help purchase a new Giraffe Omnibed for the Maternal Child unit at Quinte Health Belleville General Hospital.
Over 1,400 babies begin their life every year at BGH, and BGHF’s mission is to make sure our team has the equipment they need to give each of these miracles the best possible start. A Giraffe Omnibed is a critical tool to make this happen. It is used in our Special Care Nursery to treat complications of prematurity while minimizing environmental risks these babies face when treated and transported.
We couldn’t provide this level of care, close to home for our region’s babies this without the partnership and kindness of friends like the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. Thank you!
P.S. – to find out more about Sandra Schmirler’s incredible legacy and the Foundation’s work, tune into their Telethon this Sunday, February 18th on TSN. You can also read more about the work they do on the Sandra Schmirler Foundation website.
