It was a hot day Saturday, but it didn’t stop the 100 cyclists who headed out on the Freedom Ride for Health bike ride. Over $26,000 was raised for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. The event was started by Dr. Shalea Beckwith and Dr. Erin Falconer along with Adam Tilley of the Brake Room. This is the third year for the family friendly ride and it continues to grow. To date the Freedom Ride for Health has raised almost $55,000 to help purchase priority medical equipment at Belleville General.

There were three separate rides for all types of cyclists – a 70 km, a 45 km and a 16 km ride. The ride is made possible through title sponsor Pioneer Health Care. Pioneer CEO Travis Shawcross says, “We are thrilled to partner with the BGHF on this event. It is a great way to get our community active and help raise funds for our local hospital.”
