Clouds break to reveal a record $190,000 raised for Fracture Clinic redevelopment.
Community spirit shone through the rain as Belleville General Hospital Foundation’s 2026 Fairways for Fractures Spring Classic delivered its largest and most successful tournament to date.
Led by title sponsors Co-operators Paul Reed Insurance Agency and McDowell’s Your Independent Grocer, $190,000 was raised in support of the Fracture Clinic Expansion at Quinte Health Belleville General Hospital. With an additional pledged gift from the Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary, this will close the project’s $1.3M fundraising goal.
“This tournament was created eight years ago with a vision of helping transform fracture care in our region,” said Alec Bauer, Interim Executive Director of the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. “To see so many come together with the aim of closing the funding gap is beyond special. To everyone who has played, sponsored, volunteered and cheered us on over the past eight years, thank you! This is a shared achievement.”
Well known as the region’s premium golf experience, the 2026 Fairways for Fractures tournament welcomed over 70 local business and community sponsors and 208 golfers to Black Bear Ridge for a day packed with food, fun and prizes.
“This tournament is about so much more than the money raised,” said Wayne Sheppard, Chair, BGHF. “At some point, nearly every family in our region will need the care provided by the Fracture Clinic. Whether it’s a child with a broken arm or a senior recovering from a fall, this project is about ensuring patients receive the care they need in a space designed to support their healing. Today, we’re celebrating the better experiences and outcomes for thousands of patients who will walk through those doors in the years ahead.”
The Fracture Clinic at Quinte Health, Belleville General Hospital is one of the hospital’s busiest departments, seeing 13,000+ visits each year, and growing. It’s also one of the most underserved. The planned redevelopment will address critical gaps in safety, dignity and efficiency for patients and care teams.
While this marks the final Fairways for Fractures, the BGHF tournament will return next year in support of a new priority project, continuing its tradition of community-driven impact. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the course in 2027!
