First Winner Drawn in BGHF Cruise4Cancer Lottery

A Bountiful Kickoff to May Long Weekend for Belleville Couple in Cruise4Cancer Early Bird Draw

Today Elaine and Denis Joly discovered they won the first early bird prize in the new Belleville General Hospital Foundation lottery, Cruise4Cancer. Like many in our community, they know firsthand the importance of cancer care, as Denis is a cancer patient himself. When contacted today with the great news Denis said “The only thing better than winning in Cruise4Cancer would be the call to say I am cancer-free. We are really happy to support this great cause.” Ticket number 2571 was drawn making this Belleville couple the most recent winners in these vital cancer fundraising initiatives for BGHF.

“We are so thrilled to be working with our new partners Bay Marine offering the exciting Sea-Doo Switch Cruiser pontoon boat and trailer as the grand prize in this latest super lotto offering. Funds raised through this vital initiative will go directly to equipment purchases for cancer care at Quinte Health Belleville General Hospital,” explained BGHF Executive Director Steven Cook. With one in two Canadians diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, Belleville General Hospital acts as a regional oncology center, providing lifesaving treatment across the entire Quinte Health Catchment.

Wes Bristow, owner of Bay Marine was on hand to assist with the draw and explained, “The whole team at Bay Marine is proud to be part of this great cause. The Sea-Doo Switch Cruiser pontoon boat is such a fun product, it is great to see the community get involved by buying tickets.”

Cruise4Cancer Lotto tickets purchased before the next Early Bird Deadline of June 3 will be eligible for two further cash prizes as well as the final grand prize draw taking place June 28, 2024.
