The community is invited to take part in a fun, inclusive, and impactful new event as the Roll for Impact Boccia Classic makes its debut in support of the Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre (QCTC). The event is presented in partnership with the Belleville General Hospital Foundation, which is supporting fundraising efforts for QCTC.
Taking place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, this inaugural tournament will introduce participants and spectators to the sport of boccia — a precision ball game that can be played by individuals of all abilities.
“Funds raised through events like this help ensure that children, youth, and families in our region continue to have access to the specialized programs and services they need,” says Heather Menaldo, Director of the Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre. “We’re excited to welcome the community on May 3rd. Our team will be onsite to share information about QCTC programs, connect with families, and offer fun activities so everyone can learn more about how we support child and youth development. This event is not only about raising funds, but also about building awareness and celebrating inclusion in our community.”
Boccia, a Paralympic sport played in over 50 countries, is designed to be accessible to everyone. Whether throwing, rolling, or using assistive devices, players of all abilities can take part, making it a truly inclusive and welcoming experience.
“Boccia is a sport where everyone can participate and be competitive, regardless of ability,” says Colleen DeMille on behalf of the Quinte Leatherbacks Boccia Club. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see new players try the sport and realize how fun, strategic, and inclusive it really is.”
The event will feature teams of two competing throughout the day, with participants encouraged to fundraise in support of QCTC. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraising team and individual, adding an extra layer of excitement and community spirit.
Community members are encouraged to register to play, come out to cheer on participants, and learn more about the important work of QCTC.
“This is a great opportunity for people to try something new while supporting a meaningful cause close to home,” says Amanda Grydziuszko of the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. “We’re proud to support the Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre through this event and to bring the community together around such an important cause. We are also looking for sponsors to help make this inaugural tournament a success. Interested organizations are encouraged to contact the Foundation to get involved.”
