Belleville General Hospital Foundation was delighted to accept a donation of $6240 from TCO Agromart as they proudly announce the success of their second annual ‘Cookies for Cancer’ fundraiser. Surpassing their inaugural donation in 2023, Sandra O’Neill and Karen Harder wanted to emphasize the value of teamwork.
Again this year, this endeavour was fueled entirely by donations – from the high quality ingredients like real butter and extra chocolate chips to the distribution, including the volunteer hours mixing, baking, packaging and cleaning up. The outpouring of support from staff members, customers, friends, and family raised an impressive $6240 for the Belleville General Hospital Oncology Department. ‘Another very worthwhile team event to support a great cause’ said Sandra O’Neill in the Selby location.
In Selby, a team including Jordan Taylor and Logan Orser from the crop administration team were joined by Tara Therian, Health and Safety Coordinator to make several batches of dough and scoop onto cookie sheets for freezing. Then Tara transported the frozen prepped cookies to the Trenton and Colborne locations for baking and boxing by additional team members like Ineke Veenstra, Customer Service and Agronomist Michael Cox and his kids. Brighton location had family members baking including Agronomist Sarah Wilson, and her daughter. Even IT Manager Leigh Blanchard was enlisted during a local visit, as he was tasked with delivering cookie orders to the Agromart head office near London Ontario. “Almost as often as the common cold, cancer has touched us all. Our customers, staff, peers, and families make ‘Cookies for Cancer’ a wonderful celebration of teamwork” said Karen Harder of the Brighton location.
The Belleville General Hospital Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the ‘Cookies for Cancer’ fundraiser. Every donation plays a crucial role in improving patient outcomes and supporting cancer care in the region.
