Grand Prize Draw winner will be cruising into Canada Day on a high note!

The winner of the Sea Doo Switch Cruiser valued at $38,985 is Joan Campbell with ticket number 0386. Joan and Don Campbell of Stirling ON are long and loyal supporters of Belleville General Hospital Foundation and know firsthand the importance of exceptional care close to home. Joan is currently undergoing cancer treatment and was overcome by the news. “We never really expected to win, we just don’t know what to say, this is incredible,” said Don.

Cruise4Cancer is BGHF’s first partnership with Bay Marine and owners, Wes and Candace Bristow, and a new addition to the Foundation’s popular cancer lotteries.

“Bay Marine is thrilled to partner with BGHF on this important initiative,” said Wes Bristow, owner, Bay Marine. “As a local business, it’s been amazing to see the promotion across town, and even better, seeing the community’s response and support. We’re already thinking of ideas for next year.”

A total of 4,978 tickets were sold, raising over $100,000. Since inception, BGHF’s lotteries have raised more than $1,200,000 for cancer patients in the region.

These funds have never been more needed, with one in two from Quinte Health’s catchment spanning Bancroft to Picton, Brighton to Napanee, now diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Quinte Health, Belleville General Hospital has seen a staggering 36% increase in cancer care services over the last four years.

Steve Cook, Executive Director, BGHF said, “With demand for cancer services on the rise, we’re always thinking of new ways to meet the need. That’s why we launched our lotteries in the first place, and why we continue to innovate, by introducing new elements like Cruise4Cancer.”

Steve also extended a heartfelt thank you to the community, who are making a real difference through their ticket purchases. “Just think of the impact that one million dollars has on local care. BGHF supporters are helping to save the lives of our most vulnerable patients. Thank you.”

Congratulations to Joan and Don Campbell and stay tuned for BGHF’s next lottery, Car4Cancer set to launch over the summer.
