The Belleville General Hospital Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its Spring Mail Campaign this week—a heartfelt call to action for our community to support a vital equipment upgrade. This campaign, featuring the moving story of Dave Allen, President and CEO of YMCA of Central East Ontario, underscores the life-saving impact of timely treatment and advanced technology in our stroke program.
Last year, the Foundation committed $2.47 million to replacing aging equipment, a milestone that has significantly improved patient care at Belleville General Hospital. Yet, as medical needs grow, so does our responsibility to ensure our hospital remains equipped with state-of-the-art tools. One such critical upgrade is an ECG machine. Now at the end of its life and essential for the rapid diagnosis and monitoring of stroke & cardiac event patients, the replacement unit—priced at $23,440—is earmarked on our capital survey for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
Dave Allen’s personal account, shared in our Spring Mail Campaign, is a powerful reminder of how every second counts in a stroke emergency. “I never imagined that a stroke could change everything so quickly,” Dave explains. “Thanks to the swift, expert care at Belleville General Hospital, I began to see hope—my body slowly started to respond. My recovery is proof that advanced medical equipment is not just beneficial, it’s absolutely essential.” His journey highlights the real dangers posed by stroke and the critical role that modern diagnostic tools play in saving lives.
Our Spring Mail Campaign is more than a fundraiser—it’s a partnership with our community. Each donation directly contributes to replacing this essential ECG machine and, in turn, ensures that our healthcare professionals have the best possible resources to treat patients in crisis. In an era of growing equipment needs, especially in high-risk areas like stroke care, your generosity is crucial.
“We are relying on our loyal donors to help us secure this life-saving upgrade,” said Steven Cook, Executive Director of Belleville General Hospital Foundation. “Your support means that when someone suffers a stroke, the hospital’s evaluating team can act immediately with the latest technology, making all the difference between life and death.”
To join this critical mission and make a lasting impact on patient care, please donate online via our Spring Campaign page or call 343 263 3541 to donate today.
