Grateful patient pays it forward with $25,000 donation.

The Al & Andrea Suba Foundation make major gift to Belleville General Hospital Foundation following excellent health care experiences.

Belleville General Hospital Foundation was thrilled to receive a $25,000 gift from Al Suba, on behalf of the Al & Andrea Suba Foundation.

“I’m proud to make this gift as an expression of my gratitude for the excellent care I received,” said Al Suba. “In particular, Dr. Bardell was there for both me and my wife when we needed his care. Now, I want the hospital to have what it needs to be there for others.”

This donation will be directed towards the Foundation’s Be Well Campaign, which aims to raise $20M for critical regional services at Quinte Health, Belleville General Hospital including Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, the Fracture Clinic, and priority equipment purchases. Belleville General Hospital serves as the center of important regional services for more than 190,000 patients, from Bancroft to Picton.

“With over $6M in equipment replacement and purchase needs last year alone, this gift will go to work, straight away,” said Steve Cook, Executive Director, BGHF. “I’m delighted to welcome the Al & Andrea Suba Foundation into our community of incredible supporters. It’s an important time as we ramp up our Be Well Campaign and donors like Al help ensure we keep exceptional care, close to home. For that, I’m incredibly grateful.”

Suba also hopes his gift will help encourage other community members. “The way I see it, it’s up to each of us to do what we can to make sure our hospital has best possible equipment. I want it to be there for me when I need it, so donating is almost like an insurance policy – but certainly the best one I’ve ever taken out!”
