The Maurice & Marilyn Rollins Foundation Doubles Support for BGHF Christmas Angel Campaign
The Belleville General Hospital Foundation is honored to announce a transformational $125,000 matching gift from the Maurice & Marilyn Rollins Foundation in support of this year’s Christmas Angel Campaign. This extraordinary contribution will double every donation made, up to that value, ensuring that holiday gifts have twice the impact for patients and families across the Quinte region.
A beloved community tradition, the Christmas Angel Campaign invites individuals to mail in personalized paper angel cards with messages of remembrance or celebration for loved ones. These heartfelt tributes are placed on two illuminated 12-foot Christmas trees displayed in the Quinte Mall, opposite the Old Navy Store — a touching symbol of connection, memory, and generosity during the holiday season.
This year’s campaign features the inspiring story of local artist and Rotarian, John Smale, whose routine colonoscopy unexpectedly revealed a diagnosis of colon cancer. Now recovering and sharing his journey, John serves as a powerful reminder that 1 in 2 Canadians will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. His experience underscores the urgent need to strengthen oncology care at the Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Oncology Clinic at Quinte Health’s Belleville General Hospital.
“The Maurice & Marilyn Rollins Foundation is honored to support this year’s Christmas Angel Campaign. Every angel placed on the trees represents a story of love, remembrance, and hope — and we believe deeply in helping those stories shine even brighter. Our family’s commitment to the community has always been rooted in supporting care close to home, and we are proud to help double the impact of every donation made, up to $125,000, this holiday season.” says Christine Mills, of The Maurice & Marilyn Rollins Foundation
“This generous matching gift from the Rollins Foundation is a remarkable expression of trust and compassion,” said Steven Cook, Executive Director of the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. “It means that every holiday donation will be instantly doubled — helping us deliver the best possible cancer care to patients and families right here in our community. There is truly no better time to give.”
With the holiday season upon us, community members are encouraged to give in honor or remembrance of someone special. Donations made before December 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, and all donors will receive a 2025 charitable tax receipt, ensuring valuable benefits ahead of the 2026 tax filing season.
