The Belleville General Hospital Foundation is celebrating a major milestone: for the first time in its three-year history, the Car4Cancer lottery has completely sold out. In just 65 days, over 19,000 tickets were purchased, generating more than $303,000 to support life-saving cancer care in the Quinte region.
This achievement is more than just a fundraising record — it’s a community rallying behind a cause that affects 1 in 2 Canadians. Proceeds will directly support regional cancer programs at Belleville General Hospital, notably the Dr. Douglas MacIntosh Oncology Clinic and advanced diagnostics, ensuring patients can access exceptional care close to home.
“This is a true win-win,” said Steven Cook, Executive Director of BGHF. “Not only do players have the thrill of a chance to drive home an incredible prize — like Trenton’s own Kelly Gerow, who took home the Corvette this summer — but every ticket sold fuels better cancer care for families right here in our community.”
With lottery sales becoming one of the Foundation’s fastest-growing revenue streams, BGHF is forecasting more than $1 million raised this year alone — a first in the Foundation’s history.
Excitement now turns to Tuesday’s grand draw, where one lucky ticket holder will claim a Mustang GT Premium Convertible, while another takes home a 50/50 jackpot of over $33,000.
“This is a thrilling moment for our community,” said Wayne Sheppard, Chair of the BGHF Board of Directors. “We can’t wait to see who drives away in the Mustang and who pockets that $33,000 cash prize. We invite everyone to tune in Tuesday at 2 p.m. as we reveal the winners.”
And the momentum doesn’t stop there. On October 6th, BGHF will launch another incredible Car4Cancer draw — this time giving players the chance to choose their prize: either a brand-new Ford F-150 Lariat or $90,000 cash in partnership with Lange & Fetter Ford.
