In an exciting announcement for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation (BGHF), local resident Dwight Martin has just driven away in a brand-new 2024 Chevrolet Camaro Redline, valued at $57,000, as part of the Car4Cancer Lotto Super Draw. This incredible prize marks the ninth edition of the hugely successful Car4Cancer lottery, which has captivated thousands of supporters across Ontario since its inception.

In addition to the Camaro winner, Linda Enokson from Belleville is celebrating good fortune, having won the 50/50 draw, taking home an impressive $17,980. This year’s Car4Cancer Lotto sold over 5,500 tickets, raising more than $153,000 for regional oncology care programs at Belleville General Hospital (BGH), ensuring better access to life-saving treatments for countless patients.

“This is more than just a lottery—it’s a chance to give back to our community and support critical cancer care services,” said Steven Cook, Executive Director of BGHF. “With 1 in 2 Canadians facing a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, the importance of delivering top-tier oncology services right here in Belleville cannot be overstated. “The funds raised through Car4Cancer are making a tangible impact, ensuring that our local hospital has the resources needed to continue fighting this devastating disease.”

Launched just two months ago, the Car4Cancer Lotto has enjoyed overwhelming support from the community. Since its inception 2.5 years ago, the Super Draw Program has raised almost $1.4 million, directly benefiting the Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic and funding priority diagnostic equipment at BGH.

BGHF is immensely grateful for the continued backing of Peter Smith GM, who have been avid supporters of this initiative from the start. “We can’t thank Peter Smith GM enough,” said BGHF Board Chair Wayne Sheppard. “They were instrumental in launching the very first Car4Cancer draw, and their ongoing partnership has been crucial in making this event such a success.”

Looking ahead, BGHF is excited to announce that a brand-new Super Draw will launch this November, giving supporters another chance to win and continue supporting local cancer care initiatives. With each ticket purchased, participants are not only entering for the chance to win a fantastic prize but are also making a direct difference in the lives of those affected by cancer in the Quinte region. In closing, Peter Smith GM Matt Cassidy stated, “ For us, being a partner in these draws delivers well on our passion to supporting the community. If we can leverage the business and help the Foundation achieve their goals, while saving lives, it’s a win win for all of us.”
