December 23, 2025 – Just days before Christmas, the Belleville General Hospital Foundation celebrated another major win for cancer care as the Cab4Cancer Lotto wrapped up its final Super Draw of the year at Lange & Fetter Ford.
The draw marked the fourth and final lottery in the 2025 Car4Cancer series, which has raised nearly $1.05 million this year alone, providing critical funding to support cancer care and essential hospital equipment at Belleville General Hospital.
The lucky Grand Prize winner, Ann Messenger of Kingston, took home the choice of a brand-new Ford F-150 or $90,000 cash. The 50/50 draw prize of over $30,000 was won by Alan Hernden, of Quinte West. In total, more than 17,000 tickets were sold for this latest draw, reaching almost 90% of all tickets available.
“Since launching our lottery program in 2021, the growth has been nothing short of exponential,” said Steven Cook, Executive Director of the Belleville General Hospital Foundation. “Cab4Cancer has truly surpassed expectations, building a loyal and passionate following from across Ontario. These lotteries have become one of the most impactful ways our community supports cancer care close to home.”
The Cab4Cancer Lotto continues to resonate by offering a true win-win—giving participants the chance to win life-changing prizes while directly supporting patient care.
“We’re passionate about supporting our regional hospital,” said Russ Macdonald, General Manager of Lange & Fetter Ford. “With over 50 staff here at the dealership, many of us have our own cancer stories involving friends, relatives, and loved ones. This is an ideal way for us to give back and make a real difference.”
Wayne Sheppard, Chair of the Belleville General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of community-driven fundraising initiatives.
“Government funding does not cover the purchase of hospital equipment,” said Sheppard. “Programs like Cab4Cancer offer a win-win opportunity—supporting essential care while giving people a chance to win. It’s an innovative and effective way to strengthen our hospital for the future.”
With the completion of the 2025 Cab4Cancer Lotto series, the Foundation noted that this extraordinary level of community support is driving the organization toward the largest fundraising year in its 41 year history, reinforcing the critical role donors play in advancing cancer care and health services across the region.
