Quinte West resident starting 2024 off right, with a $100,000 windfall

Winners announced in Belleville General Hospital’s Cash4Cancer Lottery.

Quinte West resident Meriel E., is starting the new year $100K richer as the grand prize winner in Belleville General Hospital Foundation’s Cash4Cancer Lottery with ticket # 99002437008. Julie H, from Gananoque, also has reason to celebrate, as the winner of the Lottery’s 50/50 draw, valued at $24,115 with ticket # 99001956005.

“Congratulations Meriel and Julie! After weeks of anticipation, we’re thrilled to announce our winners in our very first, cash prize lottery,” said Steve Cook, Executive Director, BGH Foundation. “Of course, the other big winner is our community, as all funds raised through this initiative will go towards improving Cancer Care at Quinte Health, Belleville General Hospital.”

This was Belleville General Hospital Foundation’s first Cash4Cancer Lottery, following a series of successful Camp4Cancer and Car4Cancer lotteries. To date, BGHF’s super draws have raised a total of over $750K for the Dr Douglas A. MacIntosh Clinic and cancer care at BGH. People from across Ontario take part – from Ottawa to Elliot Lake.

“I honestly can’t believe it, this is really going to help out.” exclaimed $100K winner, Meriel E. With her daughter standing next to her as she double checked to make sure this was really happening, her husband John soon rushed into the room as the family prepared to celebrate their win. Emotions were running high in their home as they learned that their Cash4Cancer ticket purchase to support the hospital has changed their lives too.
