The Belleville General Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce the success of its 25th Annual Gala, which brought together healthcare supporters, hospital staff, and philanthropists from across the community. This year’s event marked a major milestone as the Foundation’s flagship fundraiser, having raised over $2.6 million in the last five years alone.

The gala, held on Saturday, September 21st, was not only a celebration of the community’s generosity but also a chance for the public to unite in support of both Belleville General Hospital and Quinte Health’s regional hospital services. The evening showcased the important role of the Foundation in addressing critical healthcare needs, providing essential resources that directly enhance patient care and improve the overall hospital experience. “By coming together, we reinforced our collective commitment to keeping our hospital and community strong, ensuring that everyone in the Quinte region receives the care they need,” commented Foundation Executive Director Steven Cook.

BGHF Board Chair Wayne Sheppard shared, “Hospital foundations play an indispensable role in enhancing healthcare by bridging the gap between government funding and the true needs of hospitals. By raising funds for critical equipment, facility upgrades, and patient care initiatives, foundations like ours ensure that Belleville General Hospital can continue providing exceptional care to our community.”

This year’s gala was a testament to the power of philanthropy and collective giving, with the night’s efforts raising nearly $380,000 to support the replacement of aging hospital beds. These essential upgrades will ensure patients receive the comfort, care, and dignity they deserve during their hospital stay.

The Foundation acknowledges a special thank you to the event’s title sponsors, whose unwavering support made this year’s event possible. Staff also extended a heartfelt appreciation to all sponsors and local business who provided over 130 items across 2 auctions. “Your generosity allows us to host this incredible night year after year, empowering our hospital to remain strong and capable of serving the healthcare needs of our region,” Cook commented. “Without your dedication, the ongoing transformation of healthcare in the Quinte region would not be possible.”

One of the evening’s highlights was the moving “Fund-a-Need” video (view on YouTube) that touched the hearts of everyone in attendance. The video delved into the personal stories of patients whose lives were changed by the care they received at Belleville General Hospital. Their journeys served as a powerful reminder of the importance of the work healthcare professionals do and why community support is essential to giving them the right tools. Guests were also treated to a return by the incredible Montreal Rhapsody Orchestra, known for their dynamic blend of musical styles and high-energy stage presence. The orchestra delivered an unforgettable show that perfectly complemented the celebratory atmosphere. Their mix of classic hits and modern favourites captivated the audience

This year’s gala was more than just a fundraising event; it was a celebration of how donors, sponsors, and community members give a collective voice to healthcare. The event’s importance cannot be understated, contributing over $8m to the Foundation since inception.

The Belleville General Hospital Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, donated, or contributed to the success of this year’s event. Your continued support ensures that our hospital remains a beacon of care and compassion in the Quinte region. Together, we are making a lasting impact on healthcare and the lives of those we serve.

Thank you for keeping our hospital strong. We look forward to another year of growth and success as we continue to meet the healthcare needs of our community.
