Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk
Registration is now open!
Host: Lisa McAuleyPlease join my sisters and I on Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st, 2025 for The Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk. A 53k walk through the streets of Belleville over the course of two days while raising funds to improve cancer care at Belleville General Hospital.
The Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk was created in memory of our mother, Gaetane Harvey. A 53k walk, 1k for each year this earth was blessed with her love, laughter and kindness. My sisters and I lost our mother on January 30th, 2006 after a brief but hard fought battle against breast cancer. Her passing has fueled my passion to fundraise and so with the support of my sisters and family the Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk was created. But this walk isn’t just about her. It is has grown into much more than that, it has grown with each walker that has registered and shared their own stories. We ask others to join our walk; in memory of a loved one who has passed, in support of a loved one who is going through cancer treatment or in celebration of a loved one who has survived this terrible disease.
The Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk is a little event with a BIG heart! It is a community of people coming together, strangers becoming friends, feet on pavement, kilometers logged, funds being raised and making a difference no matter how big or small. We celebrate the lives of so many people that have been touched by cancer. I hope this walk empowers others to turn their grief, sadness or helplessness into something beautiful and meaningful.
Since 2015 we have raised over $227,000 for cancer care at BGH!
Please join Gee’s Girls to help improve cancer care right here in our own community.
It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that this will be the last year for the Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk. It wasn’t a decision I took lightly but I feel it is the right decision for me at this time. I know in my heart my Mother is proud of all I have done in her memory and I can’t help but think she would be smiling down on all those that have been so instrumental in helping me host the Gaetane Harvey Memorial Walk over the last decade. I have met so many wonderful people through the walk and am so incredibly grateful to each and every walker and volunteer. I don’t think this is the end of my fundraising journey but I would like to take some time to focus on what my Mom loved best and that is family.
I hope this year will be our biggest and most successful year! I look forward to walking alongside our walkers as we complete our 53k journey in September raising much needed and important funds for cancer care at Belleville General Hospital.
Much Love and Appreciation,
Lisa McAuley
