The 4th Annual Fairways for Fractures Spring Classic got off to a soggy, but successful, start on Thursday as 172 golfers took to the links in support of the proposed Fracture Clinic Expansion at Belleville General Hospital. Although the forecast rain threatened to halt proceedings, showers failed to dampen spirits as organizers delivered a record year for the hugely popular event. With over 53 local business and community sponsors taking part, participants enjoyed a day packed with fun initiatives and prizes, creating a competitive yet relaxing format.

Quickly becoming known as the regions premium golf experience, the Fairways for Fractures event was born 4 years ago to support capital investment to accommodate growth of the region’s fracture clinic. As one of Quinte Health Care’s busiest service delivery programs, based at the Belleville General Hospital site, population expansion coupled with a mature demographic mean that future clinic expansion is on the horizon. The clinic currently sees over 12,000 patients per year for conditions ranging from broken bones to hip replacements.

‘The Belleville General Hospital Foundation recognizes the need to support future growth of these important regional programs, based here at Belleville,’ commented BGHF Executive Director Steven Cook. ‘Golf is often considered the sport of business and it’s incredible to see the local business community continue to add value to this growing event.’

Returning title sponsors, Team Guernsey Real Estate and Alexander Wilson Architects were two of those companies credited, with BGHF Vice Chair Tracy Bray commenting, ‘Black Bear Ridge represents one of the best course experiences locally. Coupled with the amazing on course hole initiatives and prizes, our group had a fantastic afternoon. We can’t thank the community enough for their continued support.’
