The Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary continued their long term support of the BGH Foundation recently, issuing a third $20,000 pledge as part of their multiyear $100,000 total commitment. Thanks to a committed team of volunteers across the auxiliary’s retail services; which include the Aroma Café, Tuck Shop and Opportunity Shop, the organization have weathered a difficult few years, helping to serve patients across BGH with a friendly smile and a helping hand.

Initiated in 2019, the commitment is aimed at providing funds for a future fracture clinic expansion at Quinte Health Care Belleville General Hospital. Discussions have been ongoing for some time to develop the existing space to a 3,000 square foot facility, accommodating 6 surgeons at the hospital.

The Belleville General Hospital Foundation’s ongoing efforts to raise funds for the project will also be boosted this Spring as work gets underway to deliver the Annual ‘Fairways for Fractures’ Golf Day at Black Bear Ridge. The event has been a staple in the Foundations event calendar, raising over $55,000 in 2021.

Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary President, Leah Johnson said, ‘as an organization with a mature age profile, we know firsthand the need and importance of having a larger fracture unit at BGH. Covid 19 has been tough for us all and in spite of the financial challenges, we were keen to maintain our commitment to the Foundation.’

Expressing gratitude, BGHF Executive Director Steven Cook commented, ‘We’d like to thank all 200+ members of the auxiliary for their commitment in tough times. Their partnership and continued support edges us closer to seeing expansion projects here a reality.’

With equipment needs at the Belleville General Hospital site currently rising substantially due to population growth and patient scheduling, the Foundation encourages the community to donate to help keep Quinte Health Care’s regional secondary hospital strong.
