“We knew that our community was generous,” remarked Peter Knudsen, Chair of the Foundation Board. “Our donors understand that importance of making a gift to BGHF. The government doesn’t buy medical equipment. We rely on our community to equip our hospital and care teams with the tools they need to treat our families now and in the future.”
The Belleville General Hospital is better equipped now then it was four years ago. From September 2013 to December 2017 over 13,400 donors have contributed more than $13 million to support better cancer care right here at home, purchase a new CT machine, refurbish the MRI, support the redevelopment and equipment for the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, replace outdated x-ray equipment and purchase life-saving medical equipment like scopes, pumps, ventilators, bronchoscopes, and vital signs machines.
During the campaign, donors showed their generosity and philanthropic spirit by making donations and pledges, giving at the Foundation’s annual gala and golf tournaments, through third party and community events, and through legacy and estate gifts. The original goal of $12 million was exceeded by more than a million dollars.
Quinte Health Care President and CEO, Mary Clare Egberts recognized the important role donors play in shaping our community hospital. “Thank you for supporting Together, We’re Better. BGH is better equipt now to provide exceptional care right here at home because of the generous donors of this campaign.”
