In 2006, Wayne Brown, Connie Reid & Colleen Reid started a tournament to get old friends together and remember Colleen’s brother, Shawn Coffin who had passed away in 1998 at the age of 30. In 2011, after the fifth year of the tournament Wayne Brown was taken away too soon. Now the organizers remember both men with the Shawn Coffin/Wayne Brown Memorial Tournament.
Over 13 years of three pitch tournaments have raised a total of $53,495.00 supporting many local charities.
This year’s tournament was held June 7th and 8th and raised a total of $5675.00.
Organizers decided to donate the funds in conjunction with Butterfly Run Quinte for the remodeling of a private waiting room on the maternity floor of BGH. It will be a small comfortable room for parents and families to wait that is separate from the common waiting area.
