Belleville General Hospital Foundation staff, together with their lead sponsors – McDougall Insurance & Financial and TD Bank Group, committee members, and event volunteers, announced the theme of their annual fundraising gala, ‘A Night at the Oscars’, today at McDougall Insurance & Financial’s office in Century Village, Belleville. Celebrating its 20th year, the annual event will take place September 21, 2019 at the 250 Sidney Street building. Gala goers are encouraged to ‘Walk the Red Carpet for BGHF’ by sponsoring the initiative or purchasing a ticket to the event. Funds raised from the gala support the purchase of medical equipment at Belleville General Hospital.
BGHF Executive Director, Steve Cook, was thrilled to announce the partnership between McDougall Insurance & Financial and TD Bank Group, “We are ecstatic that McDougall’s and TD have partnered with us this year. We are so grateful that they recognize the need to make health care better for our community. They are true community partners, who give generously time and time again.”
Ross McDougall, CEO, McDougall Insurance & Financial and the event’s honourary chair remarked, “I’ve been involved with the hospital for many, many years and I continue to do it because I believe the hospital is vitally important to our community. The reality is, and I don’t think we can say it too often, without the community giving money to the hospital we don’t get equipment and if we don’t get equipment we can do the things that are important and we can’t attract the doctors and all kinds of people to our hospital. I am delighted to be here again this year and I am delighted to be working with Jennifer.”
Co-sponsor, Jennifer Tretina-Nelson of TD Wealth and partners with TD Group said they were honoured to be a part of this year’s gala, “We are passionate about this Foundation because this hospital supports our friends, family, co-workers, and our clients and anything we can do to help raise money that keeps that care locally so people don’t have to travel is really important. I don’t think the community has a true comprehension of what the dollars that the foundation raises actually does in our community and that’s really crucial. It’s a fun event for the community to come together and it’s a true honour for us.”
This year’s soiree marks the 20th fundraising gala for BGHF. The Foundation plans to showcase memorabilia from past galas, present recognition awards, and invite special guests to attend. Typically known as the gala where guests dress in costume, this year’s Oscar theme lends itself to red-carpet worthy glam attire or creative get-ups like your favourite movie or actor.
The government doesn’t buy medical equipment for hospitals, donors do. All funds raised, at the gala, support the equipment needs of Belleville General Hospital. This year, the Fund-a-Need portion of the gala will support the Diagnostic Imaging Program at BGH.
Tickets for this year’s event are on sale now. Mr. McDougall said, “These events are fun. People actually have a ball. So that’s the icing on the cake for these parties.” Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Information can be found at www.bghf.ca .
