Donald Bateman was a longtime farmer in Thurlow township and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Tweed. His wife Sarah “Irene” Bateman was a retired teacher with the Hastings County Board of Education. This couple made a significant difference everyday just being part of their community. When they passed away, they made sure their giving would continue. Belleville General Hospital Foundation was the recipient of a donation of over $626,000 from the Bateman Estate. The money will be used to purchase much need priority medical equipment at Belleville General Hospital. BGHF Executive Director Steve Cook says “These legacy gifts are often a major catalyst for transformations within the hospital.”
Belleville General Hospital Foundation recognizes the generous gift from the Estate of Donald and Irene Bateman with a plaque located in the In-Patient Rehabilitation Lounge, Charlotte Sills Wing, 3rd floor.
