“I recently had the misfortune of contracting pneumonia while away on a ski trip. I went to a small hospital where I was treated very well and diagnosed with pneumonia. Drugs were prescribed and I headed back home to Belleville. Unfortunately, I had a very bad reaction to the medication and got seriously ill. A neighbour came by to check on me and drove me in to BGH. I was seen in triage quite quickly and taken into the Emergency Department.
The staff was great. Doctors Miron, Coady and Irvine tested me and decided I needed to be admitted and they apologized that the wait was long as rooms were in very scarce supply. Everyone in the hospital treated me with professionalism, concern and kindness. The nurses in Emergency, x-ray technicians, porters, housekeeping staff, nurses on the sixth floor through the food and nutrition staff were, without exception, outstanding in their work.
I was so ill that I was in no rush to go home but when the time came to leave, the staff were there assisting me in the process. So, from the nurse in triage to the secretary who checked me out and everyone in between, BGH has an incredible staff and the community should recognize that. They deserve our recognition daily. In conclusion I would like to thank the entire staff. I am getting better now and you made it happen.”
