Diagnostics & Imaging
If you build it they will come – really; the Awesome Power of Giving. Donors from our community gave over $21.5 million to the Imagine Campaign in 2006 to replace outdated equipment and to purchase new types of imaging equipment at all QHC sites. Since that equipment was installed:
- QHC has attracted an outstanding team of Radiologists and Technologists. The number of Radiologists went from 2 to 10 over the last few years.
- Our wait time for CT scans is one of the best in the province. The provincial average is 28 days. QHC is only 7 – 14 days.
- The wait for an ultrasound went from over nine weeks, to under two weeks.
- New and enhanced diagnostic services, such as MRI, are available close to home, again with wait times significantly below the provincial average.
- Patients no longer have to travel to Kingston or elsewhere to have certain exams performed. The amazing range of diagnostic examinations done here makes QHC a leader among community hospitals in Ontario.
